Ruth Sasser is the Public Affairs Specialist with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Panama City, Florida. Ruth came to the BCSO in 2002 with a background in radio, marketing, and video production. Her duties include marketing and media relations, special events planning, writing press releases and speeches, spokeswoman for the BCSO, and co-host of "Raising the Standard," a 30-minute television program produced entirely in-house and designed to inform the public of all the positive programs at the BCSO. "Raising the Standard" airs throughout the central Panhandle and parts of southern Alabama.

Ruth is also active in the community, serving as co-host on the one-hour daily community affairs television program "Around Town" from March of 2006 to March of 2008; on the Communication Committee for the United Way from 2003-2006; and most recently on the Advisory Committee for Affordable Housing in Bay County.

Ruth has been a member of the Florida Law Enforcement Public Information Officer’s Association (FLEPIOA) since attending her first conference five years ago, and has served as a speaker at the 2007 and 2008 FLEPIOA Conferences.

Ruth is also involved in the Northwest Florida Domestic Security Task Force as Public Information chair and serves on the Type Two Incident Management Team in the Public Information Officer position in Region One.
