Peter H. Hollister, APR, Fellow PRSA, CPRC
Biography
Peter H. Hollister is Principal and Counsel of Hollister, Trubow
& Associates, a firm he co-founded in 1986. His areas of specialization include
strategic planning, communications audits, communications research, fund
raising/fund development, organizational and board development and presentation
of seminars and workshops.
During his 40 years as a professional communicator and counsel to management,
Hollister has worked in the corporate sector for a public utility, in the
not-for-profit sector for three universities, as a consultant with Jackson
Jackson & Wagner, and then with his own firm. Simultaneously, he spent 33 years
in Army (USAR) public affairs, recently retiring as a Colonel.
Hollister is a charter member and past president of the Yankee Chapter of the
Public Relations Association of America (PRSA) and is currently active in PRSA’s
Cincinnati Chapter. He was a chapter officer and on the state board of directors
of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA).
He is a past member and secretary of the Public Relations Advisory Council of
the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, and is a
founding member of the Public Relations Advisory Council at Florida State
University. He also chaired the External Affairs Advisory Board at Miami (OH)
University. He serves on several boards in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern
Kentucky area and is a 1994 graduate of Leadership Kentucky.
A graduate in Sociology of the University of New Hampshire, Hollister has done
extensive additional graduate study in public relations and organizational
development. He has been an adjunct professor of public relations at the
University of Florida graduate school. He is the author of the book Successful
Strategic Public Relations Planning and has contributed articles and chapters to
a number of publications.
Hollister lectures on communications-related topics and is a frequent speaker at
national and regional conferences and workshops. He has won several awards for
public relations programming. In 1992, he was given the highest award of the
Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, the Steuben Crystal Apple,
for excellence in teaching. He was also the 2002 winner of the Werner-VonderHaar-Bogart
Award, the Cincinnati Chapter of PRSA’s highest honor.
Hollister is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) by PRSA and in 1992 inducted
in to PRSA’s College of Fellows. He has also earned the designation Certified
Public Relations Consultant (CPRC) through the FPRA.
